CBCT Carestream 9300

A low-dose, three-in-one solution designed for both ENT and Dental Imaging.

Combining true panoramic imaging, cone beam CT (CBCT) technology and optional cephalometric capabilities, the CS 9300 will make expanding your dental imaging services easy and affordable.

Providing anatomical image data similar to MDCT—but with higher definition and at a significantly lower radiation dose—CBCT imaging is the new standard for oral and dental imaging. Large size volumes combined with excellent bone structure visualization make the CS 9300 the ideal tool for maxillofacial imaging.

Bioresearch Tek-Scan

At Smiles of Cary, we believe in creating beautiful smiles that feel as great as they look. We are pleased to offer the new Tekscan® by BioResearch, an advanced dental technology that measures how teeth come together (occlusion) while highlighting ways in which alignment and feel can be improved. Tekscan® can be used to correct alignment issues, or it may be used to achieve near-perfect alignment after dental procedures like cavities, restorations, crowns, and other procedures.

A better, healthier, and more natural bite. With the help of the Tekscan®, dental professionals for the first time have access to specific measurements of force, bite time, points of contact, and much more. Using the Tekscan®, we measure not just how the teeth come together, but also how they move apart from one another. With these numbers, our team is able to help patients achieve a better, more natural bite that protects the long-term health of the teeth, gums, and dental work.

JVA

JVA provides a fast, non-invasive, and reliable measurement of TMJ function to aid in the diagnosis of TMJ problems. The most important aspect of JVA is that it is totally objective. It is based on sound science. Dentists can observe and hear a dysfunctioning TMJ, but to truly diagnose the condition of the joint more information is needed. The JVA provides that. It gives a diagnosis of a jaw joint condition which gives the patient and the Dentist a totally objective starting point from which to measure progress. This piece of equipment is essential to any treatment of a TMJ disorder.

EMG

Electromyography (EMG) is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them (motor neurons). Motor neurons transmit electrical signals that cause muscles to contract. An EMG translates these signals into graphs, sounds or numerical values that a specialist interprets. An EMG uses tiny devices called electrodes to transmit or detect electrical signals. During a needle EMG, a needle electrode inserted directly into a muscle records the electrical activity in that muscle.

A nerve conduction study, another part of an EMG, uses electrodes taped to the skin (surface electrodes) to measure the speed and strength of signals traveling between two or more points. EMG results can reveal nerve dysfunction, muscle dysfunction or problems with the nerve-to-muscle signal transmission.

Jaw Tracker

A jaw tracker is an instrument which measures and records the movement of a person's jaw. It is used to help diagnose if a person has a TMJ related disorder. Chewing or mastication is one of the main functions of the stomatognathic system. The use of devices for quantitatively measuring mandibular motion has recently become more common in scientific and clinical use. Often, the goal has been to provide an objective basis for diagnosing musculoskeletal disorders of the jaws, to monitor the progress of active treatment methods or to evaluate prosthodontic treatment functional results. To better understand differences between various systems to record mandibular motion a review of recording methods presented over the years was made.

Myofunctional therapy

Myofunctional therapy is the "neuromuscular re-education or re-patterning of the oral and facial muscles". The therapy includes facial and tongue exercises and behavior modification techniques to promote proper tongue position, improved breathing, chewing, and swallowing. Proper head and neck postures are also addressed.

Myobraces

Myobrace is a no-braces orthodontic approach to help straighten your teeth and jaws. Treatment addresses the poor oral habits that are the real cause of crooked teeth. Myobrace treatment involves using a series of appliances which have the proven dual function of correcting habits that cause poor dental development, while also providing light forces to align the teeth into their natural position.
